Furniture - Coffee Table
Summary:
This project started off as a center-cut salvage from a pecan tree in Pasadena. Rough cut in the field and and set out to dry for a year, this slab was too big for traditional planers. Instead the edges and top of the coffee table were standing using a handheld belt sander, starting with 40 grit. Edges were brought down smooth free of chainsaw marks and finally finished with a clear coat. As the intent of the table was to preserve the live edge and the unique wedge shape, recesses were cut on the backside to inset the legs all all to the same slab thickness. Removable wood nuts were inserted into the slab so the legs were removable for transport and a 3D printed cap clips onto place to hide the exposed bolts.
